Solar Power Partners Supplies Power Purchase Agreement Securing Clean Renewable Energy for Next 15 Years

LOS GATOS, Calif.,  — Demonstrating continued robust growth in the commercial sector, Akeena Solar, one of the nation's leading designers and installers of solar systems, together in partnership with Solar Power Partners, Inc. (SPP) today announced the completion of the largest commercial solar installation in San Francisco. Solar Power Partners financed, developed and will operate the system through a power purchase agreement (PPA), which allows the site owner to purchase power at a predictable rate from SPP. The project totals 385 kilowatts and spreads 1,500 solar panels across four commercial buildings in the Hunters Point/Bayview neighborhood.

"I commend Akeena Solar and Solar Power Partners for their commitment to find economically viable ways to blanket San Francisco with solar panels and solidify San Francisco as a beacon of American solar energy," said San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom, who in June signed the nation's largest municipal solar incentive program into law. "Private sector efforts such as these are equally as important as publicly funded efforts like GoSolarSF to advancing our city's renewable energy initiatives."

The systems will provide an estimated 60 percent of the commercial buildings' annual power needs — the equivalent to taking 75 cars off the road each year for 30 years. Located at the intersection of US-101 and Interstate 280, the impressive solar installation is visible to motorists on both freeways.

On the same web page that your article about methane-gas-from-cattle tax article there was a Mickey D ad for a morning McBuiskette, right next to the "pass along" comment. Cracked me up. The truth is that virtually all commercial livestock are feed lot fed on corn, which makes them fatten faster than grass, their wild "normal" food of choice. As such, while feed lot cattle and hogs die within half to one quarter their normal life spans, they are bulked up so much faster by being force fed corn leaves and kernels that they can be sent to market and slaughtered much faster, before that happens. Of course the corn fat is embedded in their muscle tissue, so those of us that eat corn fed beef, pork, chicken, catfish, turkey, etc. are exposed to corn fat weight gain as well. So, driving up the price of feed lot fed food is probably a positive health issue as well as an economic one. This may fly in the face of the Food Bank Czar's postulate that every American should have a cheap food source, which is why corn is king in America. (Refer to the documentary movie, "King Corn."). I am of the opinion that there should likewise be a flatulence tax at point of sale at fast food and other restaurants for anyone purchasing a hamburger or diner salad. Human flatulence (and heartburn) are directly related to iceberg lettuce as a major source of human generated methane gas; as well as fatty substances and lettuce in hamburgers, from direct consumption. What do you think of that?

P.S., I recently sent an email to my Texas state and national elected legislators to the effect that I like to see reversed a decade long position that corn should NOT be subsidized such that the current trend to make it into bio-fuel will make it ever more expensive as food; my reversal is because high fructose corn syrup (which is distilled into alcohol but also used as food additives) are directly linked to type 2 diabetes. Let the price of that crap go out the roof is fine by me, now. Maybe it will start to be removed from virtually every processed food we eat, as a result. My wife and I have all but emptied our cupboards of canned and prepared goods after reading the labels of these and finding only about 15 out of one hundred canned , packaged and beverage items had no high fructose corn syrup (or malto dextrose) in their ingredients.

Note: High fructose corn syrup is inert. That and malto dextrose are very good food preservatives and they are very much cheaper than sugar to sweeten foods and beverages. They are nothing but empty calories. The problem is that they do not let your body know that you are full when consumed. They do not trigger the "Full" response. As a result, one is still hungry and one overeats or over drinks to try to get "full." The over-consumption tends to turn into fat around the middle part of the body - which is a precursor to type 2 diabetes. While the Food Bank Czar had a good intention by making sure everyone has something to eat; like all postulates, the consequences of postulates are not always what one would intend when fully played out. As type 2 diabetics overwhelm our health services due to needing amputations and as they die off in ever increasing millions, food will stretch further for those still alive. E.G., Pulitzer's gun powder and Gatling's rotary gun were intended to end war by making it too ghastly to do war because of these inventions. Cheap, subsidized corn for food is now on that list of postulates with disastrous consequences to both human health and the atmospheric environment, too.

Belated New Year Prayer

Dear Lord, God Almighty,

I apologize for not communing with you earlier this year about this tribulation on my mind. You have known what sadness and concern I am carrying in my heart for your sick daughter, mankind's soul mother, the Earth; whom we both love so much. Each time I've approached the point of getting on my knees to talk to you, I have been overwhelmed with grief and anguish too harsh to bear. I am sorry for my weakness, Lord.

Mother Earth now has a 1.2° fever and climbing. We both know that means her waters have swollen from the increased melting of ice and hydrates above and below her surfaces. The ongoing disruption to low lying land has caused whole island groups to be uninhabitable and the poor inhabitants living on them are experiencing uncounted misery; and it is overwhelming their home country's, all in denial of their ability to relocate and care for them; who treat them like disposable refuse. Starvation, revolution, pirating and mass die off of little children and the old and sick is their fate.

Coastal floodplains are now being spoiled by sea water encroachment and the hatching of seafood young-lings has all but stopped thus destroying the livings of uncounted millions of coastal and deep water fishermen worldwide.

Earth's tears are so acidic from industrial and automobile toxins that mankind has had to engineer acid rain resistant trees in our country in a futile attempt to have any forests at all. "Old Growth Forests" are a rare destination on vacation tours. In many others, wild lands have died off into dusty wastelands and now between droughts, the fertile soil is being washed away for lack of forests and grasslands that used to cover her nakedness.

Water, the blood of Mother Earth's body, world wide, runs thick with poisonous toxins. Now there are whole city states in many countries that have cancer body counts similar to those that war mongers demand in combat.

Now there are rafts of plastic debris floating in all of Mother Earth's oceans that are larger than many countries. The plastic, which is inert but toxic, is now in the eggs of salmon, swordfish, tuna, shellfish and other seafood you supplied for mankind to feast on, millennia ago, when you created this world and the living creatures and mankind on her.

The constant jiggling of plastic refuse in Mother Earth's waters cause them to disintegrate into minute pellets which are being breathed into the bodies of plankton and ingested up the food chain back into top tier predators and ultimately humankind at the top of the food chain. Penguins, Whales, Polar Bears, Sea Eagles, all have plastic in them, now. All mankind, created in your image, is rife with this cancer agent and we are dying in ever greater droves; making the plagues of history seem like a minor cold, in comparison.

Earth's wind, the air of all life, is filled with particles of burned carbon so thick that nowhere on or under it is free of some amount of pollution. It shortens the old age of many. It causes whole populated area's to have to stay indoors, increasing the need for energy to keep them cool indoors almost all of which is generated by more carbon burning to get the additional energy in ever increasing amounts. Mankind has lost touch with its responsibility to you, themselves, each other and all other living creatures to foster endless increases in comfort enhancement practices that cause our air and water and food to be ever more dangerous to breathe and drink and eat.
